Encyclopodia, la Wikipedia en tu iPod

Navegando he encontrado la forma de llevar la Wikipedia en el iPod, lo cual me ha parecido una cosa muy original e interesante. Encyclopodia consiste en un lector de eBooks, en el cual metemos un eBook que contiene la Wikipedia. Por el momento sólo están disponibles para descarga las versiones en Inglés (753 Mb), Alemán (321 Mb) e Italiano (71 Mb), pero si dominas uno de estos idiomas puede ser útil e interesante instalar Encyclopodia. El programa que se ha de emplear para instalar Encyclopodia está disponible en versión para Windows y para Mac / Linux.

No es necesario Desfragmentar un iPod

Apple recomienda no ejecutar ningúna utilidad de discos tipo Norton Speed Disk, Disk Scan o Defragmentador de Discos. Realmente esto no es necesario, ya que la unidad de disco del iPod no tiene un proceso de escritura/borrado tipicos de un disco duro. Si crees que es necesaria una limpieza de los datos para obtener la máxima prestación en el disco duro, solo tienes que elegir la opción de Restaurar que puedes encontrar en iTunes desde la versión 7. Esta opción reformatea la unidad (defragmentándola en el proceso) y tiene el beneficio añadido que crea una base de datos totalmente limpia de procesos corruptos generados en los procesos de escritura. Es recomendable tener conectado iTunes a Internet para que así esten disponibles siempre las últimas versiones de nuestro iPod y realizar una correcta Restauración.

Alargar la vida de la Bateria del iPod

Utilizar el interruptor de control

Ajusta el interruptor de control en iPod y su control remoto a la posición de bloqueo siempre que no estés utilizando iPod. Esto evitará que iPod se active de manera accidental y reproduzca canciones en el caso de que se pulsen los botones mientras está en el bolsillo o en el bolso.

Mantener iPod a temperatura ambiente

La batería de iPod funciona mejor cuando iPod tiene una temperatura ambiente, normalmente 20 °C, pero puedes utilizar iPod en lugares a temperaturas comprendidas entre 0 °C y 35 °C. Si has dejado iPod en un lugar frío, deja que se caliente a la temperatura ambiente antes de activarlo. De lo contrario, es posible que aparezca un icono de batería baja y que iPod no se active. Si después de calentarlo, iPod no se activa, conecta el adaptador de potencia y pulsa el botón de menú y el de reproducción/pausa simultáneamente hasta que aparezca el logotipo de Apple.

No dejes iPod en el interior del vehículo cuando esté aparcado al sol. Las temperaturas pueden llegar a alcanzar los 65 °C.
No dejes iPod expuesto a la luz solar directa durante periodos de tiempo largos.
Consejos adicionales

Carga

iPod carga el 80 por ciento de la capacidad de la batería en una hora. Sin embargo, puede tardar 4 horas en cargar la batería totalmente. Incluso en el modo de reposo, iPod consume una cantidad pequeña de energía y la batería se vacía lentamente. Si está almacenado a una temperatura ambiente óptima, la batería tardará en agotarse entre 14 y 28 días.

No cargues iPod mientras está en la funda o está cubierto.

Debes cargarlo cuando esté totalmente descargado aunque no lo vayas a utilizar en ese mismo instante.

Poner iPod en pausa cuando esté desatendido

Si dejas iPod desatendido, pulsa el botón de pausa/reproducción para detener la canción. Si dejas que la canción continúe reproduciéndose, iPod continuará reproduciendo canciones hasta que la batería se agote, especialmente si la configuración de repetición está configurada con Una o Todas. Coloca iPod en el modo de reposo para ahorrar batería. Pulsa el botón de reproducción hasta que iPod entre en el modo de reposo.

Retroiluminación

La retroiluminación puede consumir mucha batería. Si no necesitas utilizar la retroalimentación, desactívala. Selecciona Configuración > Temporizador de retroalimentación > Desactivar.

Ecualizador

Apagar el ecualizador alargará la vida de la batería. Si no deseas utilizar el ecualizador, desactívalo. Para desactivar el ecualizador, selecciona Configuración > EQ > Desactivar

Evitar cambiar las pistas

Evita cambiar las pistas pulsando los botones Anterior/Rebobinar y Siguiente/Bobinar. Si cambias normalmente las pistas pulsando los botones Anterior y Siguiente, iPod tiene que activar el disco duro para abrir las canciones. Esto consume mucha batería.

Utilizar canciones comprimidas

La memoria caché de iPod funciona con mayor eficacia si se reproducen canciones con tamaños medios de archivo (inferiores a 9 MB). Si tus archivos de audio tienen un gran tamaño o no están comprimidos (como ocurre con el formato AIFF), quizá desees comprimirlos o utilizar un método de compresión diferente como AAC o MP3 al importarlos a iTunes. Otra opción es dividir las canciones o pistas más largas en pistas más cortas con tamaños de archivo más pequeños.

Cómo crear listas de reproducción On-The-Go Editables en iTunes

Todos los iPods con pantalla desde la tercera generación iPod pueden crear sus propias listas de reproducción. Se trata de las listas On-The-Go, la solución perfecta para aquellos que no tienen tiempo para ponerse a crear listas cuando están trabajando con el ordenador, pero sí que pueden dedicar algún ratito a escuchar su iPod.

Para añadir una canción a la lista On-The-Go, sólo tenéis que ir a la canción que queráis y mantener pulsado el botón central del iPod hasta que la canción parpadee. Este método sirve también para añadir listas completas, artistas, álbumes, géneros, compositores o audiolibros a la lista On-The-Go.

Encontraremos la lista On-The-Go en Música > Listas de reproducción > On-The-Go del iPod, e incluso podremos seguir escuchándola mientras continuamos añadiendo canciones. Para borrar una canción de la lista, nos colocaremos sobre ella y mantendremos pulsado el botón central hasta que la canción parpadee. Al soltar el botón la canción se borrará. Para borrar la lista entera nos situaremos al final de la misma y seleccionaremos Borrar listas de reproducción. La siguiente pantalla nos dará la última oportunidad de Cancelar o Borrar lista de reproducción. De todos modos os aconsejamos que no eliminéis las listas aunque no sean perfectas, más adelante podéis abrirlas en iTunes y editarlas para dejarlas a vuestro gusto. Aseguraos de renombrarlas bien para localizarlas con facilidad cuándo las necesiteis.
